Oki Electric Cable commences sales of the "ORP Slim Cable" fine-diameter robot cables

- Introducing new space-saving models to the existing product series offering 20% reduction in diameter and weight while retaining the same features and price -

Oki Electric Cable Co., Ltd. (President: Takashi Hattori, Head Office: Kawasaki-shi, Kanagawa-ken, hereafter referred to as Oki Electric Cable) has introduced new models to the "ORP Cable Series" high-flexure robot cables, featuring 20% reduction in diameter and weight while retaining the same bending performance and price. Oki Electric Cable will commence sales of these new models in June. This product was put on exhibit at the "INTERNATIONAL ROBOT EXHIBITION 2011" and received a fantastic amount of response and enquiries.

In general, robot cables are widely used for the wiring of moving parts particularly in the field of industrial equipment. Oki Electric Cable's "ORP Cable" has been a popular generic robot cable product since its release in July 2009. In recent years, there is an increasing demand for robot cables with smaller diameter and lighter weight to support the more complex and high-speed movements of moving parts in industrial equipment that continue to become lighter, smaller and more sophisticated. To answer such market needs, Oki Electric Cable has developed the new "ORP Slim Cable".

The "ORP Slim Cable" has achieved 20% reduction in diameter and weight in comparison conventional products as result of reviewing the core wire architecture and the materials used, while retaining the excellent bending performance of the strong proprietary non-fluorine resin insulator with proven performance track record in the "ORP Cable Series" A wide lineup of models has been made available to cater for diversifying customer requirements in short timeframe.

The "ORP Slim Cable" supports high-speed movements in the confined spaces of compact-sized industrial equipment and is suitable for the internal wiring of the moving parts of semiconductor production equipment, chip mounter, etc. In addition to the field of industrial equipment, Oki Electric Cable will be venturing into new fields including medical and food-related equipment with a lineup of electric cable products that are thinner, lighter and more flexible than competitor products.

Features

  • These high-flexure robot cables feature the industry's smallest diameter for their rated temperature and voltage (80°C / 300V).
  • This product uses Oki Electric Cable's proprietary, strong non-fluorine resin insulator with excellent sliding properties to achieve superior bendability over fluorine resin insulated cables.
  • A copper wire braided shielded type with superior bendability is also available as a shielded alternative.
