Stuttgart, Germany, November 6, 2007 -- Oki Electric Cable Co., Ltd. (TSE: 5815) today announced it has added a new camera link cable for power supplies to its product line up. With this addition, Oki Electric Cable now offers 5 models of camera link cables compliant with camera link interface. The cable is exhibited at Vision2007, held in Stuttgart, Germany (http://www.messe-stuttgart.de/VISION/vorank/english/index.htm) from November 6 to November 8, and will be displayed through a connection to cameras at the following stands: Hall 4, Stand C40 (Connected to Sony's camera) and Hall 4, Stand A21and A51 (Connected to Toshiba Teli's camera 'Clever Dragoon').
"Leveraging our many years of skill in designing cables for robots, we succeeded in developing this cable that maintains a high level of performance because no structural changes occur even after sliding and bending it one million times," said Takashi Hattori, President of Oki Electric Cable. "Going forward, we will actively provide this new cable with combined power supply-use capability as an added-value. We expect to find wide application in industrial equipment such as industrial devices and robots."
For example, transmission in LCD testing equipment is shifting from analog to digital. Because such equipment requires highly reliable cameras, it is becoming common that the camera link interface must enable large capacity image data transmission. Conventionally, cameras for camera links required separate cables: one to transfer image data and the other for power supply. Responding to the needs of smaller cameras, the Power Over CameraLink (PoCL) standard was established to consolidate the power supply into a single connector. Oki Electric Cable has added two new cables that include power supply compliant with PoCL; these are high-sliding resistance cable and a thin cable. This brings the lineup to a total of five models, including three conventional cables: the standard, thin and high-sliding resistance cables.
